People in the business of exchanging color information need a reliable method to describe color data in a format for transmission between two parties. The file format will exhibit these features:
The CxF format accommodates a wider range of color data in a more-easily-used way, that takes advantage of the strengths and universal acceptance of XML (Extensible Markup Language), as compared to the earlier CGATS-formatted text files.
Originally used by X-Rite, is becoming more accepted by other vendors of color management products.
