Substrate Corrected Color Aim

SCCA is a method of adjusting the white point of a set of data (such as a measured profiling target), in order to simulate the effect of printing on a differently-colored substrate.

Previously, the only known way to accommodate a change in paper stock was to proceed through the long process of printing profiling targets, measuring them and creating a new output profile. Software that has SCCA available will allow the user to simply input the Lab value of the white point of the paper, and all the color values of the data will be altered accordingly. The results can be quite acceptable, depending on how big a change is involved, the substrates involved, etc.

Curve4 is a commercial product that makes use of SCCA in calculating verifications, and also allows for direct implementation in its "Remap White" function.
