In July, 2011 Apple released version 10.7 of their operating system ("Lion"). This OS does not support the translation protocol known as "Rosetta" which has been used to run many Power PC applications. With Lion, several common color management applications will no longer run. Here is a table listing several of these applications, whether they will be Lion compatible, and whether there is an alternative that has the same function.

Apparently the neat thing about Multiprofiler is that it can be used to load the LUTs of different profiles into the INTERNAL graphics processor in the display, and that color setting will stay - even when the display is not hooked up to a computer.

The first part of this shows the typical procedure for editing a custom Picture Mode preset. The second half shows how to use this to emulate a printer profile.

Selecting the Response Improve setting helps reduce blurring that can occur in fast-moving images.

Selecting the Metamerism correction setting can improve the white point color matching when the monitor is used side-by-side with a standard color gamut monitor. This feature compensates for the way the human eye perceives colors slightly differently compared to the scientific instrument used to adjust the monitor during calibration. This difference is due to the different spectrum of light that makes up the screen image on the wide color gamut compared to that of a standard color gamut monitor.

The next page bring you here where you can choose a rendering intent to be used to create the LUT. Here, too, you can view your choice in a 3D LUT. You can use this to see the differences between rendering intents.

In order to match a printer, you need to carefully set the white of the display here so that it matches the white of your printer paper under your specific illumination.
